We have four girls for sale. Two in milk and two not. All are bred by our bull yearling out of Grassway Organics x Riverview Farms mini.

Two bulls for sale, same breeding, second one is Chocolate Chip.

Regret having to post this but health has way of changing life.

Also selling most of our Mangalitza and Mulefoot herds, keeping a few pets and the very few red ones of each breed. Two red Mulefoots are the only two in the world and that color was thought extinct since 1900.

I hope your health allows you to keep a milk cow for yourself, Mike. I'm sad to hear that you have to find new homes for so many of your animals.

Wish there was a way you could keep your Jersey gals and hog/piglets. If anyone is looking for good cows now's the time for them to let you know. I would have loved having one of your gals back when I was looking for a Jersey milk cow. Thinking of you and Valerie and if we can be of help let us know.

Mike, it's been a while since I've had the opportunity to read the forum. After I read your post I did a little poking around and I am fascinated especially with the Mangalitzas. Could you tell me more about them?

Well, you probably read the good stuff. They are the 'wooly pig' from Austria.
Their meat is marbled and red, and they are a lard type hog with huge amounts of backfat.
The lard is supposed to be the best their is. Fed free choice they gain rapidly but are still a little smaller than our Mulefoot hogs. 300# is about the biggest we get on them.
There are several color patterns, blonde, swallow belly (like a black and tan) and the much rarer red. We have all three and a successful breeding set for the reds. There is some fellow in Iowa who imported 'royal red', thinking it was unknown here. We have been getting them in our litters since day one.

They are pricey, at least in California. Chefs love them for their flavor and the richness of the meat.

I like the Mulefoot as well. They are a little larger and like the Mangalitza are very docile and friendly. Always wanting an ear scratch or belly rub. They taste as good and the lard again is out of this world.

Cows still for sale. Another one freshened now, family cow, being milked. She is a Grassway Organics cow we bought and is a doll. Friendly, obviously.

Someone must need some Jersey girls with good bloodlines. Hate to take them to the sale barn. $1000 each, I paid $1,750 for them at Grassway.

Can you give more details about your Jerseys for sale? How old is the freshened, family cow that is currently being milked? What is her size? Vet records or diseases tested for? How much milk is she giving now?

Perhaps Charlene/Ethan can share how they found their new cow Flossie recently on Craigslist and the process they went through to locate a veterinarian who could run all the necessary health tests as well as examine her before they decided to buy her and then travel to pick her up.
