Register Your Jersey

[flourish]

This page describes the requirements and process for registering your cattle with the Heritage Jersey Organization.

Already know all this?

Otherwise, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Become a Member of the Heritage Jersey Organization

Membership in the Heritage Jersey Organization is required to register cattle and is free!

  2. Apply for Registration

When applying for registration, you must provide the following for each animal:

    • There is no size requirement to register your Jersey, but you must provide their height (measured at the withers in inches) when registering. All cattle will be given a size classification of either full-size, mid-size, mini-size, or micro-size. The measurement must be taken within the 30 days prior to registration.
Click here for size classification charts and measurement instructions.

    • One photograph from the left side.

  3. Provide a Hair Sample

As part of our registration process, your Jersey will be DNA-tested. A genetic marker report, A2 genotyping, and polled test will be obtained on your behalf. A DNA test kit will be sent to you upon completion of your registration along with instructions for procuring a hair sample for the test. A copy of the final DNA report will be provided to you.
