Well, we're on a roll. Nellie's 5th bull calf. Hoping all goes well. Don't know if calf ever nursed to get colostrum. Hasn't since I've been watching. I've tried the bottle but he will have nothing to do with it and I'm not much for tube feeding. So watching Nellie and calf. Time will tell. Got a couple photos but more concerned how they are doing.

Unbelievable!!!! You are on a roll. What are the odds at this point, I wonder? It sounds to me like he got a belly full of colostrum. Fingers crossed Nellie stays upright and free from milk fever. I have to say, he is surely adorable, though.

I wouldn't have a clue as to the odds, they may have been better if using the same bull each time, but I haven't. Anyway, it's okay, because we don't need anymore heifers. I would have liked one from Nellie, but that doesn't look like that's going to happen. This may be my last calf. May be time for cow retirement. Haven't named the little guy yet. I turned Nellie and calf outside as it's too warm in the milk parlor. And I did get another tube of calcium down here. Bottle fed the calf some colostrum. He finally took it. Hope things go well through the night.
