Hi, I'm wondering. Hamby dairy supply has a dual pasteurizer for making cheese. Can I use that to thermize milk?

Hi Victoria,
I think the dual function is something new they've added to their regular pasteurizer. So I suggest you call and ask them if it can be adjusted for 150 degrees. That exact model (before the dual function was added) is the one I used to have that I gave to Charlene. Mine had a stainless steel inner chamber--you might want to ask them for that. And yes, we were able to turn a screw and adjust the temperature so that the alarm went off at 150 degrees and then we waited a few seconds--15 to be exact-- and removed the inner chamber. We poured the milk into 1/2 gallon jars; put them into room temperature water in a cooler, then added ice (frozen water bottles) to that in around the bottles of milk. If you put the hot milk (in jars) directly into water already iced, the bottles will break. After two hours, the milk is close to 36 degrees and into the fridge it goes with the plastic water bottles going back into the freezer for doing the same thing the next day.

And....we are still using MaryJane's pasteurizer! I've had a difficult time getting the temperature gauge to work just so; but, instead, got a thermometer that has a probe on long "cord" and it has an alarm on it which works just perfect so I also heat the milk just like MaryJane does. I'm so grateful for that pasteurizer, MaryJane.

Thank you for the info. I had a heifer named Annabell, but she had two teats coming out of one udder. She went to a kind lady that wanted a pet. She wont be bred. I did today get a three month old full size baby jersey. She is from a raw milk dairy. She is so sweet. Her teats are perfect and she was checked by a vet.
