Maybe you can all help me out with the most common traits of Jerseys. I think Elli is very classically "Jersey" with her fawn coloring and rings around her eyes, but purebred Jerseys can come in lots of different colors, right? Are there any specific traits that show up regardless of color? Usually there is a lighter ring around the muzzle I believe. Anything else specific?

You sound right to me. AppleButter is definately a darker colored jersey. She also likes to lick everything. She loves to jump and play, she is also very smart. She knows how to get out of the pen when you go in to give her grain. Butter is also really small. The dairy gave us one of the smallest calves.

When you take a picture of her you should have something in it to reference her size, Syndey. It's been so long since we've seen her. She's probably changed so much!

I know! I need to be better about my picture taking, I do have a dairy weight tape, I've heard they aren't the most reliable, anyway thanks for the tip, Keeley!

Other Jersey characteristics I've heard are black hooves, black noses with dark eyes (Guernseys have a pinkish nose), and lighter rings around their noses and eyes. They can be very light colored - fawn- to very dark, almost black colored. Some can have white patches on them, too, but still be full Jersey.

I have a friend who shows dairy with me, her Jersey has many white spots on it.
