I took stock of how my trees did with such deep snow. My peach trees are looking fabulous and have tiny little buds starting to show.

The rabbits completely girdled one of my new honey crisp apple trees.

On this apricot tree they hit the branches pretty hard but the main trunk wasn't chewed on, so it should pull out of it. Next year, I'm going to have to wrap the entire tree.

And two days ago, right where I grab hay to feed my girls, my little banty had decided the cows' hay needs to be where she lays eggs instead. So be it. I'm happy to work around her.

So far, she's given us an egg each day.

The snow is starting to melt. Our landscape looks like a zebra.

With a bit of thaw happening, I assume everyone had a busy Saturday. Nick and I planted the 10 hydrangeas trees I started in pots last fall from clippings (they were as ready as we are to get outside).

Brian and Ashley packaged food for a big order going out.

Maggie's belly is looking ripe--one more week, I told her.

And the four grands were doing what their parents did when they were young--creek jumping. The water was icy cold (snow melt) and their screaming every time they dove in (the water hole they found came up to Alina's chest) was like listening to a pack of coyotes from a distance. Eventually, they carried their boots (full of water on the inside) and walked to where they might find dry clothes (warm pajamas).
