Thought i would wish y'all a good morning. we aren't skating this morning as i have to catch up around the farm and work before heading out to therapy and gymnastics with the girls.

i managed to get the girls re-enrolled in school this morning, glad for technology that makes that all an at-home experience instead of trekking around town. i am also grateful that this year we have the three girls at only two schools, as last year all three were at different schools. the youngest are in 2nd and 3rd this year, and this elementary school has been such a blessing this last year - so to have both youngest it in one year just makes me happy beyond words.

right now eldest is feeding cows and mucking, middle is folding towels after watering roses and walking dogs, and youngest is cleaning spots off the carpet after already tending to the chickens and eggs. it is just wonderful to have these girls happy to contribute to the farm and family. and to lessen our load a bit ;>

take care everyone. have a wonderful week!

Good Afternoon All,

Well, school started today for Austin, my last child in public school and he is a Senior this year. Will turn 18 next month, so that makes all my "kids" adults. How did that happen and where does time go? He will also be taking Ag welding and Ag mechanics at the junior college.

Cindy, having only two schools makes it a blessing. At one point my three were on three different schedules. Seemed like all I did was drop off and pick up. So
glad to hear the girls are enjoying the farm. Chores and farm life make for well rounded children. Holding our breath for wonderful news come Wednesday

MaryJane, I am sure glad you are starting to feel like your ole self. Not old, just ole self. We have sure missed you on here. Lacy is doing fine, and is just a love. I find it hard to believe that you said you never heard her moo, at your farm. When she is cycling, the whole county can hear her. Quite the vocal girl!!! As for the Aubrac's, it is Teri that we got our cows from. Did the marathon drive to Kansas and back. What a lovely family they are. Got three beautiful cows from them. Two younger ones and a 10 year old that looks like she is about 3. This breed is know for longevity. This is a the youngest one. She is the calf to the 10 year old. Her name is Flower, but I call her "Baby Cakes"

Gotta get a move on and get some work done.
Blessings to all.

Cindy, tell me it isn't true. Hard to believe ....as if you're not lifting mountains already. Why on Earth can't they HELP you and Patrick, instead of making things harder. Shaking my head in disbelief. What a layered mess. The image you painted yesterday of the girls out and about on your farm while you and Patrick sipped coffee needs to be turned into a courthouse mural.

good evening. i picked myself up from the depths of despair this morning and am still here. adoption wont take place tomorrow. it is heartbreaking, but it will EVENTUALLY take place and we just have to hold onto that. the girls' attorney is such a gem, so at least we have someone that is working hard on our behalf. we have hopes to get it done in 4-8 weeks so we just have to solve the one "format" issue with the fingerprints/background checks to get it done... and we started on that today.

the girls dont know it was to take place tomorrow, as given all the unscheduled parts of it we couldn't lift hopes to dash them down again... so glad we did it that way. after we found out today that it was cancelled, lover boy and i spent a couple of hours in our offices to get ourselves back together. then we stopped work at 3pm, he got a melon out of the refrig and we sliced it outside and just sat around with the girls and the babysitter gorging on melon in the hot summer afternoon. one of our fave weekend things is to do this on a sunday afternoon, and sit around on the edge of the summer kitchen concrete as watermelon juice drips down our hands and chins... taking the time to do this this afternoon was precious, and exactly what we needed today.

so back to normality... i hope everyone else is doing well. thanks for the kind comments maryjane, its just the normal every day life around here that is so precious to us.

take care.

Well, that's super disappointing, Cindy. The good news is that if anyone can whip them into shape over the next 4-8 weeks, it's you. ;) You are organized and detail oriented and you will keep them on track. It will all work out, but thank goodness the girls didn't know to be let down this time. That was very smart of you.

Sorry to hear the news Cindy, but the good news is you're all still together and the adoption will take place, just not as timely as hoped. Normality is good, and it sounds like you are all having a good time together. Take joy in that and time passes fast (unless your waiting for something) and things will progress and get done. May you all have a wonderful day ahead.

Well Darn Cindy,

That is not the news I was hoping to hear today I was so wanting for it to be done and over with for you all. I am sure I can speak for all of us on here, that we will remain to be with you in our thoughts as this continues on.

Janet, how are the little Hooligans doing. Any more flower tromping?
Looking forward to seeing some jars of Liquid Gold from you and MaryJane with your bees.

Smoky as all get up again today. If you all want to see some horrific pictures of the fire and what is going on, you can go to this site. There are some pictures, and down lower an interactive map. Just horrible images. https://www.abc10.com/article/news/local/new-images-let-you-view-carr-fire-destruction-from-above/103-581125653

On a funny note, if you can wait for the ad to run, watch this video. Cows herding a carjacker that tried to escape in a field. Type in "cows and carjacking" on your search bar. It was posted by Fox news. Maybe I am just easily entertained

Hope you all have a Blessed Day

Hello Darla! Yes, the fires out in California are horrid. Such devastation and loss. And the smoke! Hoping you and yours are all safe. So disheartening. I'm afraid there are more "hooligans" than you could ever imagine. I have to surround all my plantings and container flowers/plants with welded wire. 2"x4". and somehow they manage to get over that at times. I found kittens laying on top of my herbs in a container. Smashes the herbs but the kittens smell good. :). A hot day here, so won't be going out much. Things are browning and drying up with no moisture. Put up more sweet corn last evening and took 2 loaves of bread out of the oven at 1:25 a.m. Now it's time to see how the cow gals are doing, milk and separate the calves from mommas for the day. Enjoy your day!

good morning. thanks for all the kind thoughts. i am back to normal, just keeping it low key at work and trying to keep my nose the grindstone - i am taking out my aggressions on my ten-key ;>

the wild fires out west are horrible. hate to hear about those each and every year.

as funny as it sounds, one of the perks about adoption was that i could now post cute photos for y'all to see... so that is disappointing!! but time will cure all ills...

we have tons of tomatoes that are coming off the vines we can't keep up with them all. there is no time to can right now, so i may just cut them up and freeze as is like my mom does. she just puts them in ziplocs and then uses them up in a month or so and swears they are just as good. can't hurt to try.

take care ladies, keep cool, blessings from texas.

Well, I no sooner got slightly sideways in the saddle again, than another issue of the magazine was due. Carol and I just finished it a while ago.

We have some of the smoke from fires here and there, even some from CA, but I'm not complaining. At least I have a home. Such a tragedy for so many.

It's hot here. 104 to be exact. I'm running fans at various different windows at night to bring in the night air and then I batten things down during the day. Even so, Alexa, Stella and Mia baked up a storm today. I encourage people to sip ice water. It truly does keep your body core cooler. Anyway, Lucas gets the prize for hottest office. It's 92 in his office today, only 86 in mine. Sauna anyone? Tomorrow is supposed to be another hot day, then down to 88 on Saturday. It's summer!

Here are the three girls testing and inventing recipes. Connie's daughter, Alexa, is here this summer for a summer internship. What a conscientious, hard worker she is and such a delight. I'll be sad to see her go back to school (high school).

Cindy, that's our honey harvest so far this summer on the counter in front, 5 gallons total to date.

Mia working away (zucchini pancakes).

And do you believe this is our Stella? She made 7 different "glazes" as she calls them (thickened pancake syrups--rose, coconut, hazelnut, peppermint, chocolate, raspberry, and lemon). Anyway, she goes through the prop room picking out what she wants for plating each stack of pancakes (she cooked pancakes all morning), then she uses one of our cameras to take photos and afterward she's learning how to photoshop them.

Happy to hear Elli got a hopeful prognosis on her teat (plus surviving milk fever--several of us got hit with that this year) and that Lacy Lou is doing well. The woman who bought Ester Lily, M'lady and Sophie is coming for a B&B stay later this month. She says her 12 year old daughter milks EL by herself every morning for the family's milk. Momma milks the other cows for milk she sells. M'lady's calf was stillborn. She took the fetus and placenta to WADDL for testing but they couldn't find any reason for it--just bad luck, it was a heifer. But it was so close to her due date that she's giving 3 gallons every day anyway.

Anna is due Sept. 19. I got some recent photos of her and she is one pampered cow. All is well with her.

Well, that's the news from Lake Webehot.

It sounds like all the people are just as productive as the bees at your place MaryJane. Glad you are feeling better!

good morning ladies. can't believe that is stella, how great is that! all your girls are doing great things mary jane.

GOOD NEWS ladies! After the adoption postponement this week i needed good news, and i got it in the form of three new passports! i have been working on passports for the girls since may, and was starting to get a little nervous given we leave in 5 weeks. but about 30 hours of paperwork paid off as we managed to get approved the first submission - and we now have three new little navy books in our stack. the girls are beyond excited.

the honey harvest looks scrumptious maryjane. our wee one loves honey like i do, the other two not so much. she came to us with her own little hot lemon honey recipe for sore throats that she learned from her older hispanic foster mom. she showed it to me the first weekend they stayed with us - how cute!

we have had the girls living with us one year and one week today. can't imagine life without them now, or what it was like before they came.

take care ladies. stay cool at lake webehot. blessings from ranch webehumid ;>

Cindy, that is wonderful news. Passports in hand and ready to go!!

MaryJane, those grandgirls of yours never stop amazing me. What wonderful young ladies they are. I am sure parents and grandparents are just so proud of them. Sunshine of the day

Love all those jars of honey. A table spoon a day is what I eat. Sometimes just a big spoonful, and sometimes on food. I love honey on and english muffin with Chevre goat cheese for breakfast. Yummy.

I found a good article regarding milk fever and shared it under a new posting.
So heart breaking.

Had a few minutes to spare, and now time is up. Got to get a move on.

Have a Blessed Day All.
