Well, I missed good morning, then afternoon, then good night yesterday. For some reason, Tuesday hit me like a Monday. Hope today is more tame.

Good morning! Charlene has an inviting, loverly lit holiday scene on her porch; Darla's tests are over (and she did well--yay!); Cindy is sharing her first Christmas with beautiful little girls in tow; and Janet nailed her first Pullman Wild Bread loaf!!!! Using heirloom wheat none-the-less. Just gorgeous.

Christmas came early for Ashley and me. Two copies of our book, Wild Bread, showed up unexpectedly early, as in a month or two early, shipped express. We held our breath as we flipped each page. As it turns out we have an awesome publisher. Every photo is spot-on. Phew. Such a relief (and no pages missing or any of that nonsense). Now, I have a WildBread.net website to build.

When I was walking Anna back after being with Ian, she cut loose with a happy dance only cows know--that fun hip swivel kick leap. Maybe that means he was successful and we can all settle into winter without the extra work of cows in heat.

Little Layla Lolly is an absolute joy. She gets packed around like a rag doll all day long and doesn't mind being tied up outside. She's such a dear. Did you know her breed (from the Swiss Alps) were carriers of milk? They pulled little carts around delivering milk.

They also delivered in times of need, hence the cross on their faces and the cross for red cross to the rescue. (I have a red Swiss army knife with a white cross.)

Potty training is going ... okay. Some misses but that's to be expected. No barking. All around lovable.

Good morning MaryJane,

I sure have missed some things! You have a puppy! Must be in the milk around here then ... just three more weeks til we pick up ours. Do you have any great puppy resources or tips or such? I’ve raised guide dog puppies ages ago and Cecily has her service dog but the dog was already trained! So advice is appreciated!

If your book arrived early, does that mean it will be available early too? No pressure, just curious ...

Dinner last night was chicken and wild rice soup made with fresh Jersey milk. So delicious! Made it in my instapot ... all done in 20 minutes total and my chicken was partially frozen. Pretty impressed.

Off to get kids to school ... only a few more days til break which is wonderful.

Never heard of an Instapot. But if it can make what's in your photo, why not??? Looks delish!

With regards to our book being ready to ship early, that remains to be seen. We do know we get our first shipment about a month earlier than bookstores and Amazon and that date is March 13 so we think mid-February. You'll be the first to know:)

I didn't get a dog, the Rae family did, which means I only get the joy and not much of the work. I'll ask Meg if she has any tips. I know to get her to sleep through the night, they put her in a crate next to their bed with a towel over it and that works.

Here she is this morning, just sitting outside while Lucas races around and Meg takes the girls to school.

Bernese Mountain Dog. She'll be slightly smaller than Walker was (their Golden Retriever who died unexpectedly).

Darling dog! And you are the smartest one ... getting to enjoy the puppy without the work! Layla Lolly is beautiful. As are your grand girls too ... lovely photo, full of smiles.

The instapot is simply a new version of a pressure cooker with some safety features that i like. It also can sauté or act as a slow cooker. So many features on it and I’m still exploring with it. Makes for a easy supper when it is so fast. Some days I love the slow cooker and then other days I don’t want my house smelling like supper all day long so the instapot is wonderful! It seems like the busiest time of day is around supper prep time and supper time so I’m all about making life simpler by having supper already in the works, one way or another.

Finishing up some Christmas presents today ... scarf and afgan. The afgan only needs a few more tassels and the scarf and few more inches in length. Better get busy.

Beautiful scarves, Charlene! Lovely, accommodating colors, both of them.

I just finished getting all of my videos loaded of M'lady being milked: https://www.heritagejersey.org/chatroom/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=31209

Love the dog and cart photos MaryJane. Such a beautiful breed of dog. And the girls looks so tickled to have their new Layla. Charlene you do such beautiful work. Your scarves and afghans are so pretty. And I love the subtle colors. Cheese making this morning down in the parlor and now, I'm going to attempt to remove a toilet.

Good Afternoon All,

Fingers crossed for Anna, MaryJane. Love the vintage photos. They are so fun to see. Congratulations on the book. All of you put so much time, work and love into all your books. They are definite keepers. And by the way, how did you know I did well on my final. My mid-term was not pretty. Our grades are not posted yet, but this morning I was out at my professor's ranch while they did semen collections on a bunch of bucks. He told me I had the top score in the class on the first 50 of 100 questions and wound up with a B+, but he still needs to grade the written part. At my age and with life and all, I'll take that grade darn toot'n. This was not an easy class.

Cindy, so glad you are getting to enjoy the holiday's with children and hubby. Yes, I am sure adult time is taxed, but the reward of children is worth it.
The laundry thing is just an idea at this point. Trust me, I know about large and filthy and greasy and etc items. I would swear Austin works as a full time mechanic instead of a high school student. "Grease Monkey"

Charlene, I love the hand work. Would like to learn it some day. Your's looks so intricate. I think I will start out with baling string. Have lots of that.
I have heard of the InstaPot. If you made that soup in 20 minutes that is incredible. And your right.... Dinner prep time seems to be busy inside and out. Plus I am on the road two evenings a week.

Janet, Do you ever rest? You are always on one task or another. Bread, cheese, pies, toilets, plumbing, quilting, and on and on. Sometimes I take a big breath and exhale, as I am exhausted just listening to all you are up to

Warm wishes to all. Recital tonight, Yay!!

Good night all! (Sometimes this is how I start my day, mid-morning that is.) Nick and I swear by a daily bike ride. I only do it because I get to wear an orange coat and pink hat:)
