maryjane	Posted - Sep 01 2019 : 3:04:27 PM I thought this photo that Jamie sent me of "sleeping cows" would bring a September smile to your face. Ester Lily's boy is the smiling one in front. Her cow Millie is the one who is fast asleep with a crooked neck (air pillow?), M'lady and her daughter Sophie are in the background. Blissed out cows I'd say. The family who bought M'lady, Sophie, Ester Lily, Maggie, and Lizzy are here for 4 days staying in our B&B. Stella milked Daisy while momma Jamie and I chatted. Afterward, we asked them to clean the parlor and we'd go take a look at Ian, our bull (they might offer him a new home). Jamie's oldest does the evening milking at their farm and cooks breakfast every day, the middle child does all their laundry, and the youngest takes care of the chickens. When I went down to check the parlor afterward, it was cleaner than I leave it!!! Daisy had pooped in there (because of all the extra excitement), but the entire floor had been mopped and cleaned, all the equipment cleaned and towels brought up for washing. It was spotless. Gotta love farm kids.

NellieBelle	Posted - Sep 06 2019 : 3:19:51 PM Yum! Your nectarine looks so good. Juicy? Good start to the day! I don't have nectarines, but I've been eating large red raspberries daily. They are one of my favorites. Gorgeous day today. Mowing, and harvested goldenrod to make allergy tincture and cough syrup. Good for so many things.

NellieBelle	Posted - Sep 04 2019 : 7:08:02 PM That is thrilling! How delicious and welcome is fresh fruit grown right on your farm. And it always tastes better homegrown, as you can pick it at it's peak ripeness when the flavor is best. So happy for you!!!
maryjane	Posted - Sep 04 2019 : 5:16:26 PM Janet, Janet, Janet!!!! I have nectarines, dozens of them ripening big and fat on my tree. We're eating them as if we've just discovered Paradise. Holy cow, the flavor. It's better than any I've ever bought, and you can bite into one all the way to the pit and the pit releases effortlessly. It's truly a miracle. The wife of the guy who runs WSUs large market garden was here earlier so I handed one to her. She couldn't believe nectarines like that were grown here on the Palouse. Truly unheard of. I am so stinkin' proud.
maryjane	Posted - Sep 03 2019 : 09:35:20 AM Yup, this is a $500 tree. I need a few more removed, but not for a few weeks. Humbug to humdinger days. Hope it all improves soon.
NellieBelle	Posted - Sep 03 2019 : 09:07:40 AM Good morning! Interesting to watch. We have a tree that needs taking down. I told Joe that the tree needs taken down so that it doesn't fall into the electrical lines, and he said, yes, probably so, that's gonna be a $1000.00 dollar tree. I wish we were able to take it down, but it's too massive. It's in the ditch, not on our property, but I imagine it will be up to us to remove it. Too many crazy goings on here. Life is a humdinger for sure. One of those time you wish you could step off the world and return when things calm down. Enjoy your week!
maryjane	Posted - Sep 03 2019 : 08:51:15 AM There's a little orange person in the top of our tree cutting rounds of firewood. We're having a tree removal service take down a tree that leans into one of my cottages. It's also in the way of a deck I hope to build. It's impressive how they take down a tree now. They drop the limbs one by one and chip them on the ground (they'll get added to my existing pile of chips I use for mud control with my cows), and then he inches down the tree using climbing gear, round by round, cutting firewood as he goes and dropping them to the ground below.

And how nice to have some extra cow maids to help in the parlor. Enjoy your time together. Looks to be a great time together.
