Hello everyone! Everything here is cows, summer heat, bees, flowers and the usual problems that go along with summer. Sunday morning was clean up manure piles and clean out the weathering pen. Joe moved the manure pile with the skid loader, but we had to scoop the weathering pen clean by hand. We scooped it into the skid loader bucket and then Joe would go empty it and then we would fill it up again. We were both a little sore this morning. Had a repairman here this morning but it was simply a matter of cleaning out a pipe from furnace and cleaning the air conditioner outside. Hadn't gotten to that yet. And the faucets in my milk parlor wouldn't shut the water off completely so had the plumber fix those. Twice. He didn't get it right the first time. No water at all. :( So hopefully all is okay now. Mid-eighties today. Humidity wasn't so bad so not as uncomfortable. Highlight of last week, I saw a cougar in our south field just after letting Millie out of the barn. It was quite a shock but a pleasant surprise. Just in a moment and then gone. Probably never see another again, so was thrilled to see this one. Hoping everyone has a pleasant week!

Both your little store and the coast look inviting. A nice cool breeze and mist would be heavenly right now. Quite hot here, but we're getting along. We just do what's needed outside and will wait for cooler days ahead for everything else.

Meg is on the Pacific coast for a few days with her college roommates, no kids, husbands, dogs allowed.

Doesn't this look inviting? Can't you just feel the cool mist and hear the waves?

Ah, little babies to behold. Ashley and Brian and girls ordered 8 different heirloom turkeys. They're almost grown now but thriving because of the all the care lavished on them.

I hope you're surviving the heat okay. We had a thunderhead this morning but it passed. Our guests this weekend have wandered into town to take in the farmers' market.

Here's what our little store looks like, packed to the gills with 19 years of what it took to produce a magazine and books. Getting it ready and set up was a walk down memory lane--kinda sad to have run out of run for all of it, ha, lots of back stock still available.

Good morning all. Can you believe it's Friday? This morning we have little guinea keets settled in and so happy to have them as we were down to one adult guinea. I feel like a little girl at my grandma's every time we bring home baby chicks. Good memories. The word is hot, hot, hot, for the next week and more by the looks of the forecast. So watering everything and hoping for the best. Enjoy your summer day!

Good morning MaryJane! Seems like there are always repairs of some kind. Your cherries and raspberries sound yummy. And glad your peaches are doing great. I ate a couple of red raspberries off my new plants down by the milk parlor. Melt in your mouth, delightful flavor of wholesomeness. My yellow sweet cherries didn't produce much this year. ? And a good share of them were high up in the tree, so I just got a few to eat. Sour cherry tree, several years old, died. I doubt I replace it. So my orchard is thinning. I like your flower bed, and a great idea to buy up plants that are in need of help. My little prairie is a delight to the bees and myself and we plan to increase it next year. I love the looks of bottlebrush grass. So pretty in the breeze. I'm carrying water to plants, as we need rain. Dry. Well, best keep moving. Enjoy your day!

A cougar. That would be a moment to behold. And definitely not an everyday thing.

No doubt your place is a sanctuary for pollinators, Janet. Everything I do/plant now has to do with that. It's first and foremost on my mind. I've noticed this year that my honeybees aren't using my two galvanized/cedar waterers at all because they've found a natural spring seep in my garden, so I've made sure to give them plenty of footholds throughout their "puddle."

Our raspberries are coming on and sweet cherries! It's a banner year for cherries--my trees are loaded with dark, black sugar cubes. The odd thing is that last year the birds ate them all so we struggled to keep netting up and them away. This year I haven't had to bother there are so many cherries, plenty for both of us.

I planted a "flower bed" this year in a shady spot. I found a bunch of $1 plants at Walmart that had been neglected and were nearly dead so I brought them home. They're thriving.

We had our main boiler go out July 4. Makes me appreciate how great it is to turn on a faucet and have instant hot water. We had our local repairman out first thing Monday morning and found out the boiler needs to be replaced, so it's on order.

I dried Lizzy off and have her in with Ian. Buttercup also. Just one big happy family for the next couple of weeks. I've heard O'Malley squawking a couple of times--he's not used to being alone.

Well, back to my bookkeeping/bill paying. Peaches are looking fabulous.
