Good morning! Hard to believe we are into July. We will be scooping snow before you know it. Farm animals seem to be doing well. Otis was castrated this past Weds. and I had vet examine Nellie for pregnancy. Postitive there so she will calve in Sept. It's quite hot and humid now, but we are all getting through it. I had another bee swarm but I was unable to retrieve them as they were 35 feet up in walnut tree. That's the way it goes sometimes. It was too hot anyway so no matter. So enjoying the front porch swing and thankful for shade trees.

A beautiful view from your sitting spot MaryJane, a good place to reflect and let your senses take over. Your family campsite looks inviting. I'm sure everyone will enjoy themselves and the pleasant surroundings and activities.

I walked straight uphill to a spot in our "little" prairie this morning to see about a strange patch of green. Have you ever noticed that when you stop and close your eyes, your other senses kick in to high gear? Sound, smell. Especially bees out and about doing what they do.

Here's the view from my sittin' spot.

Janet, my bees are all behaving themselves, thankfully.

I snapped a couple photos of our family campsite, full now with 10 guests until Sunday. This morning the 4 teenagers and several adults helped out in the milking parlor.

Right now, they're on a hike headed to about the same place I went this morning.

We provide plenty of pie iron cast iron devices.

Everyone loves Jasper--he loves all the attention for sure!

Good morning! Things are hopping this morning. Finished making mozzarella, had another swarm, but I let them leave. Too busy too suit up and shake down. I watched them cross the cow pasture heading south, so hopefully they find a home to their liking. My little prairie is beginning to bloom. Planted right next to the bees. We need some rain and I think it's in the forecast so we will see. 81 degrees and not even noon. Sounds like busy time for you all as well. Enjoy!

Nice to get an update on all things Janet. You sure do have decent luck in the AI department. Happy to hear Nellie is pregnant.

My bees were swarming daily. Truly nuts. Sometimes, yes, too high for me to reach (one of them flew away after three days even though I tried to lure them with lemongrass). It turns out it was one hive in particular, or rather one queen (who hadn't been laying any eggs). Once she was intentionally "disappeared" (caught in the swarm catcher) all six of my hives have settled down and started making honey. I'm just shaking my head. I don't understand it at all. I keep trying to wrap some logic around it, but can't. Just a rebel rouser? She seemed to have an impact on my entire community of hives (if that's even possible).

I'm getting ready for a party of 10 B&B guests for three days. I can't wait until the final moment when all I have to do is pick and then arrange bouquets of flowers. I'm also getting our farm store set up. Stella and Mia have been helping. Mia had the idea to put one of our small freezers on the porch and fill it with organic ice cream treats. So far, we've been our best customer.

I can see that Buttercup is starting to go into heat. Time to put her with Ian I think. That would be an April baby. Then again, I might wait another cycle.

Happy 4th and all that!
