NellieBelle	Posted - Feb 20 2018 : 05:04:28 AM Good morning! The cold temps are definitely not good. Hopefully your below 0 temps won't last long. We are at 24 degrees this morning and had thunder and lightning a good share of the night with freezing rain and pellets. Not a good night if you want to sleep, but I would hardly notice the difference. Just unusual to have lightning and thunder with such cold temps and in February. Hope things warm up for you all out in Idaho. I always feel so bad for the animals.

We had plenty of the below 0 weather that went on for some time and it's so hard on everything. But you never know what winter will throw at you. Just have to do the best we can. And little kids already, how thrilling. Good that Owen saw them and you got to the newbies early on. Much excitement at your farm.

CloversMum	Posted - Feb 20 2018 : 6:28:09 PM Just a quick pop in to say hello...boy, was I thankful for no wind with the below zero temperatures! Betsy and Clover were NOT pleased with the cold temps: Clover didn't even want to open her eyes! So today when the temps reached mid-twenties, everyone was happy! Tonight we are off to our very first puppy class with Opal. I'm bringing my paper towels :) We still have both puppies for another week or so. Last week we had our first goat kids of the season. Miss Tulip delivered five days early and I was not expecting them! They were born unassisted on a cold barn concrete floor since Miss Tulip decided to "nest" all the way down to the cement. Tulip and her mama, Marigold, cleaned up the babies and Owen accidently found them in the early morning while doing chores! Yikes. But I raced down to the barn with my insulated coveralls over my pj's and tucked them inside. After getting them warmed up, they did well. They are already sold too! Their milk lines are fantastic and they will be wonderful milk goats. Well, time to go!
NellieBelle	Posted - Feb 20 2018 : 08:47:57 AM Just anything green right now is a welcome sight. It looks like spring in the greenhouse even though the outside is covered in ice. I went down to pick some spinach, greens and tomatoes for a salad for tonight. It feels odd walking into the greenhouse when it's so cold and icy on the outside. But a nice change. I saw hyacinth peeking up out of the ground yesterday, but they are covered in ice today.
maryjane	Posted - Feb 20 2018 : 06:45:12 AM Good morning Janet. Thunder and lightning in the winter always seems a bit off to me. Well, I gave a bit of breakfast to everyone an hour or so ago and carried hot water to the two girls locked up without access to the waterer. I don't know if they all needed a bit of something but it made me feel better. Cold is the word here. The quilts I have on all the Chaffhaye bags stationed here and there are barely keeping the ice crystals at bay. May have to put some bags inside and pack them around each time. I checked on all my plumbed buildings and all seems well so far. Well, back at it! Hope all is well up on your hill, Charlene. At least you're not dealing with wind, also. How are your new pups?
