Semen that I will be offering for sale at some point. Stay tuned!

Samson (heterozygous polled A2A2), mid-size Heritage Jersey, born 4/11/2011 (FYI, this guy is classic drop-dead GORGEOUS!)
Note: Jersey bulls who are born fawn usually end up with reddish/brown highlights and black around their necks/heads, buttocks, and under-carriage once their testosterone starts coming in.

Sir Charles (homozygous polled A2A2), mid-size Heritage Jersey (41 inches at the withers measured 2/1/201), born 11/19/2013

Cassidy (horns A1A1), mini-size Jersey, born 5/5/2013

I think this thread will answer all your questions. I have only one bull I've collected:

Do you have mature heights on your A.I. breeding bulls? I have a really nice registered standard Jersey heifer that I'd like to breed this fall. Also, I'd like to use a bull whose dam has teats that are long enough to be hand milked. Do you have udder pictures of their dams? Any pictures or info you have would be awesome.

Hi Valerie,
The first thing to do to get ready for AI is to ask around and find a good experienced AI technician. After you speak with her/him, you'll know how many straws to purchase. First time heifers are a tad harder to AI, so some technicians want as many as five straws on hand. Because the shipping is so expensive (and the same no matter the number of straws), some technicians go for five and then charge a small fee like maybe $10/year to keep the rest on hand for you. We sold semen recently to a guy in Maine who has successfully AI'ed something like 70,000 dairy cows. He only wanted two straws.

Mary Jane, I read somewhere in this chatroom that you are selling Samson. I am interested in buying his semen. I wanted to buy a mini jersey heifer from you (as I indicated last summer), but my husband ended up buying one for me at a local cattle auction last July. At first I wasn't sure because I wanted to see your cows first, but (of course) I have fallen in love with her! She is a real cutie and very smart and curious! When I bought her she was 250 pounds. Now she is about 500 lbs. I call her Maggie Moo. I want to breed her in 2016 - I think she's about 8 months old now. So I'd like to breed her in August or September so she will calve in the Spring of the following year (2017). Not sure how many straws I will need to purchase?

I should add that we received confirmation this morning of two more Samson pregnancies (first time A.I.) and a first-time A.I. procedure that took place yesterday. So far, his semen is getting cows/heifers pregnant on the first try.

I'm sorry I don't know of a good A.I. tech in the Spokane area. If you find one, I would be more than happy to help out in the semen department:)

I have a gorgeous 2015 AJCA heifer, and I am very excited by the prospect of breeding her to Samson when she is 2 years old. Both her sire & dam are A2/A2. I wish that sexed semen was more affordable, but I understand why it's not. I need to find a really good A.I. tech in the Spokane/Cheney area.

Hi Mo,
If all goes as planned, Samson's semen will be available either the last week in August or first week of September. I'm toying with the idea of paying to have some of his semen sexed but the cost to me for each straw is something like 30x more expensive. That's on top of all my charges to have his semen CSS certified (room and board for 64 days, several health tests plus a flat fee). Non-sexed straws are sold retail for $75 plus shipping. How much would someone be willing to pay for sexed???? I could do maybe a dozen of them.

BTW, I have one of my mini-Jersey's (39 1/2 inches at the withers) pregnant with Samson (live mount) due in August. I think the size is going to be perfect. At three years of age (considered fully mature), Samson is 49 inches tall (at the withers) and weighs 960# so he's fairly small. Perfect in my mind. I love his sleek physique.

I also have one of my mid-size girls (47 3/4" at the withers) due with one of his calves (live mount) any day now. I want to compare size. I'm pretty sure my miniature gal will "size him down." How much, I don't know yet but I'm running the perfect live test to try my theory that a bull like Samson can go either way, mid or mini. He isn't too big nor too small.

Hello Mary Jane, love your book! I have a nice A2A2 Jersey cow that I would like to AI with a mid sized Jersey bull , When do you think you will be collecting and will you be offering sexed semen as well?

They certainly are handsome!
