I heard moooooing around 5:40 a.m. and sure enough Millie had her calf in the pasture. It's 60 degrees so I'm hoping the little thing will be alright. If you remember Millie is the "not so friendly" cow. I was able to get close enough to check out that it's a little heifer, (Hazel), and that was about it. Not going to risk injury at this point. I will get picture when it gets light out. So, finished for this year.

Another heifer, little Hazel. Silly Millie. I wish she were more mellow for you. No rhyme or reason as to why that happens it seems. My Maizy from several years ago liked to pin me against the wall when I was prepping her udder to milk. And she was ornery with the other cows. I think she's the reason Daisy has a lump on her neck (small broken bone encased in scar tissue).

Hopefully you'll get a photo of Hazel.

What a morning! 3 cows milked and one on the lamb. Ha! I was able to get close enough to get Betadine on Hazel's umbilicus. And pictures. Millie actually brought Hazel up to the weathering pen, so I gave Millie some pellets. Now they are off to the far end of the pasture. This is a picture of Millie and Hazel early: And now just a while after milking. And here is Darla and Esther this morning: And I best not leave Grady out. Here he is feeling spunky I have plenty of clean up in the barn stalls. Mucked but now needs cleaned up and freshened. Gorgeous day here today, up in the 80's.
